Day 3: Qingyuan to Lianzhou
After breakfast today, I took a car to Lianzhou, visited the Lianzhou Underground River and Huanjiang Three Gorges Scenic Area, and walked along the pedestrian street.
The Lianzhou Underground River Scenic Area features unique landscapes and grand scenery. The entire cave system consists of three levels, spanning four mountain peaks, with an exploration area covering 60,000 square meters. The first level includes an underground river that can be toured by boat. Inside the cave, there is also a waterfall that resembles a white silk ribbon dancing in the air, with splashing water droplets. The second and third levels are terrestrial, allowing visitors to admire the diverse stalactites and enjoy the dreamlike fairyland of the Yao Pool. Additionally, visitors can learn about geological knowledge such as the formation of the cave over millions of years and the awe-inspiring craftsmanship of nature.
The Huan River Three Gorges consist of three majestic gorges: Yangtiao Gorge, Lengja Gorge, and Fairy Gorge. During the Qing Dynasty, the magistrate Lin Hua Wǎn said, ‘Among all the famous scenic spots across the nine provinces, few can compare with the unique and extraordinary beauty of these connected gorges, comparable only to the Wushan Gorges.’ The divine craftsmanship of nature’s master sculptor has carved the mountains and waters here into a poetic corridor that combines the perilous charm of the Yangtze River Gorges with the enchanting beauty of the Li River landscape. A boat tour of the Huan River Three Gorges offers views of the ancient ‘Eight Scenic Spots of Huan River’: Distant View of Jin Peak, Evening Mist over Gui Peak, Verdant Droplets on Xiuyan Rock, Spring Floods of Shuangxi Creek, Dawn Moon over Lengja Peak, Rainfall at Longtan Pool, Stacked Offerings at Kun Lake, and Cold Forest of Jingfu.
